At a very young age, Rebecca was exposed to the splendid world of art and painting, thanks to her father's influence and their friend, the late Antonio Dumlao. He was her father's primary mentor and patron, in turn encouraging Rebecca's innate talents. Her dad was her first teacher, her very first artist- mentor, patiently teaching her the different strokes and techniques as she painted with him.
Rebecca painted on newspapers put on the floor to protect it from spills, observing and learning from her father's deft strokes as she sketched herself. Growing up, her father instilled in her the idea that education was important, he wanted her to have a degree to make it easier to get a job, so she followed his wishes and enrolled in one of the best schools of her generation- College of the Holy Spirit Mendiola.
Her artworks explore the beauty and subtlety of the human face, female anatomy, and the natural world. She strives to capture the nuances of emotion and the intricate lines of each subject with bold, vivid brushstrokes. Her medium of choice includes charcoals, acrylics, and oil paints. She invites to explore the unique connection between the artist and the artwork- where they are propelled to express their emotions through the artwork. Her paintings reflect her values and artistic vision, and express her identity in a way that connects with others.
