“Si Malakas at si Maganda” (The Strong One and The Beautiful One) is a Philippine myth that tells the story of the first man and woman who emerged from a giant bamboo. They are depicted in this painting within the bamboo scaffolding that grew the city of Hong Kong.
Today, the men and women expected to build the Filipino nation are being sent to foreign shores to build theirs.
